Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who do you work with?
Lots of folks! We work with churches of all sizes and denominations looking to do something different with their property, but need help getting there.
We also partner with architecture firms and general contractors that are providing direct services to missional clients seeking to reimagine and renovate existing space or build new space.
-
How long are your contracts?
It depends! Length of contracts vary by service and client needs. Gnerally speaking, placemaking site visits usually take 1-2 days. Property visioining often involves a series of listening sessions over the course of 3-6 months. Real estate coaching for development projects may take as long as a year or more.
No matter how long it takes, we are committed to walking with our clients through this process and helping them discover a missionally-aligned path forward for their properties.
-
How much are your services?

-
What if we don't own our property?
That’s OK! Even if you don’t own your property, we believe there are still exciting ways you can add vibrancy to your context and build trust and connection with your neighbors. Connect with us to explore the creative opportunities that are unique to your particular situation and context.
-
Do you help churches find new property?
No and yes! While we are not licensed brokers with access to property listings, we can guide your team on discerning your priorities and negotiables in finding your future property. We can also advise on what to consider during your property search and help you with property negotiations when it comes time.
-
Do you help churches sell property?
Yes! However, we are not licensed brokers and cannot legally earn a commission from a property sale. Because we are not seeking to make the highest commission, we invest our time and energy in helping you achieve the appropriate balance between revenue and mission when it comes to selling all or part of your property. We will guide you on sale negotiations with your mission interests in mind.
-
How can we use our empty church space?
So many ways! We can help you identify the strategic questions to ask and the people to talk to that will help you discover the options that best fit your context. We also help you discern your time and investment capacity and navigate the liability concerns that come with reimagining church space for alternative uses.
-
What is placemaking?
Good question! Placemaking is a term we use for the process of making the exterior of your church property more hospitable and delightful for your congregation and the broader community. We like to say it is the art of transforming spaces to pass through into welcoming places to be. We believe you can build trust and connections with your neighbors through public space that is designed to cultivate interactions of rest and play with one another. Placemaking is our passion and we would love to share more with you about this concept!
-
How can we use our property to support our ministry goals?
Make space for relationships! Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of church mission because through relationships we demonstrate the love of Jesus to our neighbors. It is easy to overlook the opportunities that physical space provides for cultivating relationships. Think of the neighborhood coffee shop or bar or dog park. These are places that bring people together. Your church can play a similar role if you thoughtfully design the space to provide connections and build trust between people. If your property offers a way for neighbors to connect beyond Sunday services, then you are on a path to achieving your ministry goals. We love helping you brainstorm property ideas for this purpose!
